When you use variables in WhatsApp templates (like the contact's name or the company name), some contacts may not have that data filled in. Before, a single empty variable made the whole message fail and not be sent. Now, the variable with no value is replaced with blank text and the message goes out normally.
Available on: all plans.
To get started: nothing to configure — the behavior applies automatically to all templates.
What changed
| Before | Now |
|---|---|
| If any template variable had no value, the whole message wasn't sent | The variable with no value is replaced with blank text and the message is sent normally |
For example, if the template says “Hi #{{nome}}, how are you?” and the contact has no name filled in, the message arrives as “Hi , how are you?” — instead of not arriving at all.
When this matters
-
Campaigns with a large base: instead of losing part of the sends because some contacts are missing a field, the message reaches everyone
-
Templates with many variables: a single empty variable used to bring the message down. Now each variable is resolved independently
-
Quick send in the conversation: the same behavior applies to templates sent manually
