# How to sync contacts between Nuvia and RD Station

How contact sync between Nuvia and RD Station CRM works: direction, fields, auto-creation and how to monitor it.

Contact sync keeps your lead base up to date on both sides, with no manual work.

**Available on:** All plans.

## How it works

Sync runs in both directions, each with its own mechanism.

DirectionMechanism

**RD Station → Nuvia** Webhook (real time)

**Nuvia → RD Station** Asynchronous queue (almost instant)

Changes made in RD Station arrive by webhook right away. Changes made in Nuvia go into a queue and are sent to RD Station shortly after.

Important

Deletions aren't propagated. Deleting a contact on one platform doesn't delete the matching record on the other.

### Sync direction

You choose which way contacts sync.

**RD → Nuvia** Only RD sends RD is the main source

**Nuvia → RD** Only Nuvia sends Prospecting in Nuvia feeds the CRM

### Synced fields

**Automatic:** Name, email and phone (with the default country code applied to numbers without one)

**Configurable:** All fields with an active mapping in the **Fields** tab

The link between each field is defined in the mapping.

### Auto-creation

When it's on, new contacts are automatically created on the other platform.

1.

Go to **Settings > Apps > RD Station CRM > Configure > Advanced**

2.

Turn on **Contact auto-creation**

Important

If auto-creation is off, only contacts that already exist on both platforms sync.

### Monitor contact sync

1.

Go to **Settings > Apps > RD Station CRM > Configure > History**

2.

Filter by **Object: Contact** (and by direction, status or period, if needed)

3.

Click any record to open the details panel

Statuses follow the same pattern as the integration (**Success**, **Partial** and **Failed**). When you open a record with an error, the panel shows the message returned by RD Station and the technical details. See How to set up the RD Station CRM integration for what each status means.

**Do existing contacts sync?**

Only when they're updated. To bring in existing contacts in bulk, import them via CSV.

**Are deletions propagated?**

No. If you need to remove a contact from both sides, delete it manually on each platform.

**How do I know if a contact is linked to RD Station?**

In the contact record, the crm_type field shows “rd_station”.
